The Action background was described as the need for indicators and management guidelines that are sustainable for biodiversity conservation. Currently such indicators are based on tree species only or are indirect indicators of forest biodiversity.
Today, however, data to implement the current indicators and guidelines have been collected by several research groups throughout Europe. The objectives of the Action are to establish a scientific network to use these data jointly, promote their further collection in the future and use them in the definition of indicators of sustainable management of forests and specific management guidelines.
The Action started from the development of a Consortium of data contributors that agreed on specific bylaws and that started to contribute metadata of the datasets that will be at the base of the activities of the Action. These activities put the basis especially for Working Groups 1, 2 and 3, which are the first to start according to the Action timeline.
After this presentation the leaders and vice leaders of Working Groups are elected (see participants menu).
